The use of light Jurassic marble in exteriors and interiors

Dear colleagues, it has been a long time since we wrote anything new and interesting in the blog. There were objective reasons (a slowdown in economic activity due to the pandemic) and subjective reasons (the inability to personally participate in projects due to spending free time at the dacha).

But here came a case that we find interesting for narration.

As we mentioned earlier, Jurassic marbled limestone is layered and is extracted by hydraulic splitting of blocks from the main mass of the terrace. There are 25 layers of deposition, for which long-term statistics on the operation of products made from Jurassic marble on facades and indoors have been developed.

Participating in the tender, we encountered a situation where our material turned out to be more expensive than our competitors. It was about a wet facade for finishing the plinth of the entire first floor of an elite residential complex. There was nothing special about the material, a standard format without ornaments and milling. The question arises, where does such a price difference of almost 11% come from?

We asked the client to clarify which specific stone our colleagues in the workshop are offering. After direct communication with the Russian supplier, he confirmed that the stone is extracted from a quarry in Northern Bavaria, specifically from the lower layer. Therefore, in our opinion, this explains the difference in price, as in Jurassic stone, material extracted from layers below 10 cannot be used as facade cladding. This is due to a long-standing negative experience with the use of this material in exteriors, which is also stated by the Jurassic stone processing industry. We declare light beige Jurassic limestone JuraLimestone Jura Cream as the material for facade finishing.

For example, the Quarter 38A project in Moscow.

The light Jurassic stone for indoor flooring is called JuraLimestone Jura Beige – for example, the Kalina Mall project in Vladivostok.

Currently, we are working on the "Marine Residence" project in St. Petersburg, where JuraLimestone Jura Cream is also used.

We conducted full-scale tests of the stone at the FGUП VNIПИИstromsyr'e Institute in order to obtain comprehensive information on the physical and technical characteristics of our Jurassic limestone.

Nevertheless, we want to emphasize once again that the tests are conducted on selective samples and the durability of the stone is generally determined by its frost resistance. The main quality criterion for the stone is the properly selected layer with long-term application statistics and the correct selection of the stone directly at the quarry, under the responsibility of the manufacturing company.
